What in the world is a blog and how can it help my marketing, traffic and content? I will make it easy for you. A blog is simply your opinions, thoughts, views, comments, experiences, instructions, rants and raves all shared on an online journal website or webpage via what’s referred to as blogging.

Blogging became popular in the late 90’s and is still going and continuing to grow. By blogging, you are able to reach your online audience and followers of your blog. These followers are particularly readers that are interested in what you have to say about a certain subject or event. Of course, a blog post should be related to what your website niche is. For example, if you are a Real Estate Agent and set up a blog, then your niche should be in the Real Estate industry.
So, what are some examples of blog uses?

1. Journal. This type of blog is where you write about your thoughts, what happened during your day, or any ideas that you want to share with others. This is more of a personal diary with the element of publicity.

2. Corporate blogging. These are used for businesses that want to help create a brand, increase marketing and boosting the image of a corporation. These are blogs that are managed at a corporate level by maybe a group of people with several moderators that each have a user name and capability to post blogs. This is for companies like McDonalds, Coca Cola, Starbucks and companies like that.

3. Niche blog. These types of blogs are quite ordinary and are designed to present information on a certain subject that is the interest of the blogger. These types of blogs are mainly used by internet marketers and focus on whatever the subject matter of the website is.

4. Media blog. These types of blogs are all audio, video or both. Therefore, it is important that your users have a fast internet connection. These are just blogs that have content of media such as artwork, photography, music and videos. For example, a Real Estate agent can have a bunch of videos geared to Real Estate such as Virtual tours, training videos and/or introduction to themselves.

Now, this is where it gets good. The best part of a blog is that you can incorporate it into a website. I call this a Hybrid, where you have the best of both worlds, a blog within a website. A blog is an awesome supplement to add to your website especially to increase organic traffic to your site. The key to increasing traffic is to add a blog post to your website at least a minimum of 3-4 times a week, in not on a daily basis. This keeps content fresh and updated on your website which search engines absolutely love! In a nutshell, you now know what a blog is a how you can incorporate it into your marketing. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please check out my other posts in the subject of blogging.

Until next time, bExtraordinary my friends!
